Originally from the California Bay Area and North Texas, Lovie was homeschooled along with her seven siblings. She has always been involved in children’s and youth ministry and is passionate about loving people in practical ways, connecting those with resources to those who have need of them, and speaking up for the marginalized.
Lovie’s first trip overseas was a week-long mission trip to Guatemala over Spring Break 2020 with one of her best friends and a group from their church, Hamilton Baptist Church. She was immediately struck by the warmth of the Guatemalan people and their desperate need for Christ, and she was inspired by the Christian community’s joy as they lived in the Lord’s will for their lives. Lovie was moved by the generosity and hospitality of families who had so little themselves, and was immensely blessed by the opportunity to return to the simplicity of the heart of God by visiting with families, encouraging others, and helping with projects such as painting and running VBS.
Lovie realized the complete dedication to Christ she saw modeled by IMN missionaries was something she wanted for her own life, but she was unsure as to whether God really needed college-aged students as missionaries. As she continued to meet IMN missionaries from all ages and walks of life, she was able to embrace the truth found in 1 Timothy 4:12. It says, “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example for the believers, in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” She decided that staying in God’s will for her life was far more important than seeing every step ahead of her and she took the leap of faith to apply for the IMN Apprenticeship Program.
Today, she is living in Oklahoma and working remotely with International Christian Concern, a Maryland-based non-profit that ministers to and speaks up for the persecuted Church around the world. She will be completing her final semester of college at Patrick Henry College as a journalism major this December and is excited to use her skills to build the kingdom of God in Guatemala.
She will be launching in the Spring of 2021 along with her running buddy and spring break mission teammate, Beth. She can’t wait to work alongside the missionaries and Guatemalan people to be God’s hands and feet!
