Nolo & Rachel
IMN Missionary Serving in Antigua, Guatemala
Hi, my name is Rachel and I am from Leesburg, Virginia. For the past year, I have been the homeschool teacher for a missionary family serving in the country of Guatemala. I teach their daughter, Emily, who is in her junior year of high school. My role as a teacher is to teach Emily all of her subjects and prepare her for graduation and to provide the Erickson’s time to serve the people of Guatemala and bring them the message of Jesus. Because I take their place in teaching their daughter, both parents can spend the entire day serving and loving the people of Guatemala. When they come home, there is no schoolwork to be taught, lesson planning or homework so they can spend quality time as a family.
While working down here with Emily and the Ericksons, I met a man named Jose, but we all call him Nolo. Nolo and I immediately hit it off and after only a month, we began dating. And in May of 2018, we will be married! Nolo is truly my other half and I am so grateful to God for bringing us together.
As Nolo and I prepare for our life together in Guatemala, many ideas have come and gone, but one desire has stuck with us. We want to run a community-based church out of our home. We want to have a church that is a safe place for the community. A place that people can come to learn about Jesus, dig deeper about Jesus, a place to feel safe and comfortable; a place of friendship.
As we start our life together, I plan to teach Emily until she graduates from high school and in evenings work with Nolo to teach our community about the love of Jesus.
Would you consider partnering with me both prayerfully and financially as we embark on this adventure to serve the missionary community and the people of Guatemala?
