The renovation Continues!

By Tommy Matthews

How long can you stand idle?                                                                                       When is enough, enough?                                                                                             It’s time to do something!

That’s where I was at earlier this year, we were at the National Children’s Hospital working with a nursing team doing training exercises with the staff and everywhere I looked it was leaky roofs buckets here and trash cans there collecting water, mold growing across drop ceilings and a small waterfall in one of the children’s ward because the gutter had completely rusted through.

We couldn’t let the children stay in these conditions so in late June we began the renovation process. Since then, we have invested around $20,000 in the Children’s Hospital. We have replaced roofs, drop ceilings, installed LED lights, new tile, paint, and something very important new/repaired air conditioners. At present moment renovation has been completed in the PICU, emergency room, malnutrition room, post and pre-op ward, and neonatal ward.

But we aren’t done! The last ward to be completed holds 30% of the hospital’s patients, all of whom are under two years old. Two weeks ago this ward flooded and patients were transferred to other wards and moved to the hallways, confirming the need for this renovation. We will also be making some repairs to the exterior of a few other buildings. For this, we need to raise an additional $10,000. We had been waiting for corporate promised donations from here locally to purchase the materials for this ward, but as time has continued to pass once again we can’t stay idle. Two weeks ago it rained hard enough that the ward had to be emptied out because it flooded, now we have children in every hallway throughout the hospital until this ward can be renovated.

We are stepping out in faith and buying materials on credit to complete this portion of the project. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us to see through the completion of the ward renovations?
