YWAM Guatemala (Youth With A Mission)
Brian and Nelita serve with Youth With A Mission Guatemala City since May 2016 (Brian) and January 2017 (Nelita). There they partnered with a missionary couple (Shawn, Canada & Natalie, UK) that has been working with women involved in the sex trade in “La Línea” -a red zone in the city- for the last two years. Reaching these women by offering coffee and cookies they start the conversation with them and talk about God’s plan for their lives, their immense value to God, the gospel message, and they pray with them about what’s going on in their lives. One of the goals of this ministry shortly is to open a drop-in center at the end of the area where these women “work” to offer Bible studies, spiritual care, as well as different types of training and workshops to give these women skills that they can use to leave prostitution.
Brian and Nelita starting on July 20th, 2017 will be discipling young adults through a five-month missionary training school (DTS) that is dedicated to helping them passionately pursue God and his heart for the nations. Brian is coordinating, alongside another staff member, the U.S. teams that come to the YWAM Guatemala City base to serve for short or long term missions. Both, Brian and Nelita, are leading the communication department for the YWAM base.
Brian, from St. Louis, MO. has been a missionary for eight years; started with YWAM Chico, CA for five years then moved to WA where he served with “Destiny International School of Ministry” for two years, and now he’s been with YWAM Guatemala City for almost two year. Nelita, from Guatemala, was born to YWAMer parents located in YWAM Guatemala City and she has been a missionary for six years; started with Mision El Faro, Izabal, Guatemala for five years and now she has been with YWAM Guatemala City since January 2017.
Brian and Nelita met in YWAM Chico, CA in 2011 when Nelita did her DTS (Discipleship Training School) at that base, and they got married in December 2016.
