Edwin & Leah Montufar (Guatemala)

Edwin & Leah Montufar

Edwin is from Antigua, Guatemala and surrendered his life to Christ in the summer of 2014. After becoming a Christian, he was blessed with the opportunity to grow in the Lord in the Calvary Chapel Bible Institute in Antigua. He graduated from the Bible Institute 1.5 years later, and then continued to serve as a leader there for 2.5 years. Since then, Edwin has been serving as a full-time missionary in his own country—having been given the ability to teach the Bible, lead worship, and translate.

Leah is from Beechgrove, Tennessee. Although she was saved and baptized at a young age, she fully surrendered her life and plans to Christ when she made the decision to follow God’s call to Guatemala during her senior year of college. In May 2018 she graduated from MTSU with a license to teach Special Education and then moved to Guatemala just two short months later, in July 2018. Since then, she has been living and serving as a full-time missionary—having opportunities to use her skills and experiences in worship and children’s ministry to serve the native people of Guatemala, as well as other missionary families there.

Edwin and Leah met at Calvary Chapel Antigua in September 2018. From that moment, they began intentionally getting to know each other, and God started putting all of the pieces together. As they prayed for direction, both together and separately, God confirmed His will in both of their hearts. They got married on May 12th, 2019.

As they have been adjusting to marriage—and ministry in marriage—they’ve settled in a small town in Guatemala called San Miguel Escobar. While at first they thought they had just found a great home to simply live in, God began making it abundantly clear that He had other plans for their little yellow house.

God has allowed them to build relationships in their sweet little community—opening the door for them to use the space they’ve been entrusted with to intentionally make disciples. From these relationships have developed weekly, living-room Bible studies and English classes for the kiddos.

But they know that God’s plans are so much greater.

God has planted a vision in their hearts to use their space and Leah’s qualifications to share the love of God by offering opportunity for educational, physical, and spiritual growth in the lives of children and families of children with special needs in San Miguel Escobar.

Edwin and Leah are abundantly thankful for everyone who supports them prayerfully and financially.

It is truly an incredible honor and privilege to be working for HIS Kingdom. They are thrilled to see how the Lord will continue to work in and through their lives on this amazing journey!

Please continue to join them in prayer as they seek His guidance and direction on their lives.
