Stephen and
Lee Anne Griffin
“Do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God”
Micah 6:8 Connects our faith with our actions, our care for those in need with our walk with God.
Stephen and Lee Anne began to feel God’s call to full-time missions after they began making short-term trips to Guatemala with their home church of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Over five years and eight trips, God confirmed their call; in August 2016, they left friends and family behind for Antigua, Guatemala. Stephen has been ministering to the homeless community of the Antigua area since 2018, teaching daily Bible studies at the sole day shelter in the area, disciplining new believers, and forming strong relationships with those who are often despised and rejected by society. Lee Anne oversees all children’s ministry activities for BuildinGuate (www.buildinguate.org or BuildinGuate on Facebook), serving the community surrounding the municipal landfill of the city of Escuintla, Guatemala. She teaches weekly Sunday school classes at the ministry site (“Land of Hope”) and weekly Bible and English classes in the nearby elementary school, oversees VBS, and coordinates children’s activities during school vacations.
Both Stephen and Lee Anne have a strong passion to see all people — children and adults — come to saving faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, recognizing that our salvation is “by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone”. For this reason, God has given them a vision of establishing a center for the homeless community—the only such facility in the area. This center will include a day shelter with daily Bible studies, showers, laundry facilities, and recreational space; a safe and secure overnight shelter for men, women, and children; and a two-year residential discipleship program for new believers.
