“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

My name is Valeria Zamorano. I was born in Santiago de Chile and raised in Mexico for 14 years. In 2017, my family and I returned back to Chile.

I studied in a homeschool-like school in Mexico and in Chile. In Mexico, we were approximately 25 kids in total. Around 7 families were involved in IME(Instituto Metropolitano Estrella). Our parents were involved in our education and it was a Christ-centered curriculum in English. Later in Chile, I was able to attend a similar school called Santiago Christian Academy(SCA). I graduated in 2021 from SCA and I was ready to study Sports Science in the US, but God had other plans for me. With a lot of prayer, I decided to stay and work at SCA instead of going to college. I worked for almost 2 years and, with God’s help, I was able to learn many skills as a teacher. I had the opportunity to work as a prek’s teacher assistant and as a substitute teacher for 3rd grade to 6th grade. I was also able to be part of the school’s main office and guide highschool students in the student council. I felt so happy and blessed I could honor Him by teaching kids. By His glory, now I am applying all those skills into Grace Christian School, a homeschool I serve as an English teacher.

On my days off, I give Ukulele lessons and I am an English tutor. I like to spend my free time reading a book, listening to music, or talking to old friends from Mexico, updating them about my life here in Chile. If I stay longer at school, I have fun singing songs with the younger kids or teaching them games I used to play with my friends when I was their age.

Although I am still young, the Holy Spirit has worked in me and has guided me to serve God not only in schools but also in camps as a counselor. He showed me the gifts that I did not know I had and He has allowed me to put them into practice. God’s plan of my life was way different than what I wanted and now teaching English to children in a Christ-centered way has become my calling.
